Delhi Rain: Over 200 Flights Disrupted, Airlines Issue Travel Advisories – Check Details | Delhi News

Delhi Rain: More than 200 flights at Delhi Airport were affected on Saturday due to bad weather in the national capital. According to Flight Radar, 182 outbound flights and 30 inbound flights experienced delays. Several airlines have also issued advisories for passengers, urging them to check flight updates before leaving home. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the national capital, advising residents to stay alert and travel only if necessary.
“Heads up, #Delhi travellers! Due to today’s downpour, several roads across Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Our teams are working to keep things on track and support your journey. Thank you for continued trust and patience,” said IndiGo in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Meanwhile, SpiceJet airlines posted on X, “#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/#status.”
“#TravelAdvisory Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status here before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey to the airport due to possible slow-moving traffic,” said Air India.
Delhi Traffic Advisory
The Delhi Traffic Police has given a warning about expected traffic jams on Saturday, 9 August, due to Raksha Bandhan falling on the weekend. They believe many people will travel out of Delhi using national highways, especially NH-44 and the Singhu border. So, they are asking drivers to take different routes to avoid heavy traffic.
“Due to the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival coinciding with the weekend, a large number of commuters are expected to travel out of Delhi via National Highways. To avoid congestion, commuters heading towards Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, and Chandigarh through NH-44 and Singhu border are advised to consider alternate routes,” it said. The Delhi traffic police asked residents to travel via the Delhi Metro.
Rain in Delhi
According to the officials, Safadarjung station has received 58mm of rainfall till 7am this morning, while Lodhi Road has recorded upto 57mm rainfall.
