Delhi runs real-time clean air model that doesn’t just react but anticipates: Sirsa

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh said that the government action has moved beyond the seasonal campaigns to keep the air in the national capital clean. “Today, Delhi runs a real-time clean air model that doesn’t just react but anticipates,” said Sirsa.
The department highlighted that, between January 1 and July 24 this year, Delhi recorded 118 clean air days, with the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) ranging between 0 and 200 — a level that includes ‘Good’, ‘Satisfactory’, and ‘Moderate’ categories. The current figures have exceeded the total clean air days for the entire year of 2016, the statement read.

Sirsa attributed the improvement of air quality of the national capital to the result of coordinated action across agencies, quick enforcement, and public participation.” We’re not in a comfort zone. The teams are on the ground daily. Our goal is not just to bring the pollution down but to keep it down,” she added.

The statement pointed out that during a similar period in 2016, the city recorded only 45 clean air days, while the current year has already clocked 118, marking an improvement of over 160%. “A significant decline in the number of ‘Poor/Very Poor/Severe’ air quality days, with July 2025 emerging as the cleanest July in a decade,” read the statement.

The minister outlined the real-time enforcement strategies taken up by the Delhi government to clear the local garbage piles, dust-generating sites, and vehicular hotspots of pollution.

These actions are part of Delhi’s 24×7 environmental governance strategy, with daily reports, inter-agency dashboards, and ward-wise escalation protocols, the minister stated.
