Delhi school admissions 2025: First EWS, DG category draw today, Check time and key details here |

The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) will conduct the first draw of lots for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) category for the 2025-26 academic session today, March 5, 2025. According to the official notification, the computerised draw will take place at 2:30 PM at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Education, Old Secretariat, Delhi – 110054.

Transparent process with public participation

Education Minister Ashish Sood assured that the draw will be conducted in a fully transparent manner in the presence of parents and media representatives according to PTI reports. To enhance visibility for attendees, multiple television screens will be set up at the venue.

How to check admission results?

Once the results are declared, parents and guardians can verify the admission status by visiting the official website of the Directorate of Education Delhi at edudel.nic.in. To check the results, they need to navigate to the designated EWS/DG admission section, enter the required details such as the application number or registered credentials, and view the allotment status. It is advisable to download and print a copy of the result for future reference.

Number of applications and available seats

As per the state education minister, approximately 2.5 lakh applications have been received, while the draw will determine the admission of 38,000 students for the upcoming academic year.

Updated income eligibility for the EWS category

The income eligibility limit for admission under the EWS category has been raised to ₹5 lakh. Addressing past challenges faced by EWS students, Minister Sood emphasized that selected students will receive a confirmation slip after document verification, and no school will be permitted to deny admission.

Next steps after selection

After the draw of lots is completed, students who secure admission must complete the required admission formalities within the specified timeframe. This includes document verification, submission of necessary certificates, and fulfilling any additional requirements set by the allotted school. Failure to complete the process within the given deadline may result in the forfeiture of the allotted seat.
