The Jal Sangam se Jan Sangam campaign will continue over the next week, carrying the message of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat through symbolic exchanges of sacred water, uniting people across India through shared heritage and purpose.New Delhi, October 25, 2025: Delhiās Education Minister Ashish Sood inaugurated the campaign āJal Sangam se Jan Sangam ā The Festival of Unityā on Saturday at the Sonia Vihar Yamuna Ghat, marking the beginning of a nationwide celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patelās 150th birth anniversary.
The initiative forms part of the larger āSardar @150ā campaign launched by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It aims to connect the Amrit Peedhiāthe generation of Indiaās Amrit Kaalāwith Patelās enduring ideals of unity, integrity, and self-reliance.
Yamuna Water to Travel Across India
As part of the campaign, Delhiās students and teachers will collect sacred water from the Yamuna River to be sent to 25 culturally significant rivers across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. This initiative, titled āEkta ka Jalā (Water of Unity), seeks to symbolize national integration and shared responsibility for the environment.
The sacred waters from these rivers will later be brought back to Delhi, culminating in a Jal Abhishek ceremony at the statue of Sardar Patel at Patel Chowk on October 31, 2025āSardar Patelās birth anniversary.
Education as a Force for Nation-Building
Speaking at the event, Education Minister Ashish Sood described Sardar Patel as the architect of Indiaās unity, recalling his pivotal role in integrating 562 princely states at the time of Independence.
āFrom Sardar Patel to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has witnessed the same unwavering political will that continues to safeguard our unity and sovereignty,ā Sood said, drawing a parallel between Patelās vision and recent national milestones such as the abrogation of Article 370.
He noted that Patelās dream of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat is now evolving into Viksit Bharat @2047, a vision for a developed and cohesive India.
āOur students are not just studying for examinations; they are learning the art of nation-building,ā he said, adding that Delhiās schools have become the torchbearers of this unity movementāa matter of pride for the capital.
A Symbol of Cultural and Environmental Responsibility
The inaugural event brought together 150 volunteers, including students and teachers from Delhi government schools, who participated in collecting water from the Yamuna and performing Maa Yamuna Aarti. The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge for river conservation and national unity.
Sood emphasized that such initiatives encourage the younger generation to see education not merely as an academic pursuit but as a pathway to civic responsibility and nation-building. āEvery child must feel that they have not come merely to study, but to contribute to the making of the nation,ā he said.
