Demon Slayer’s New Movie Popcorn Bucket Gets Online-Exclusive Release Ahead of Infinity Castle Premiere
The hotly anticipated Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle serves as the first of a new animated feature film trilogy that will ultimately mark the end of the anime series. In May, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini confirmed that “The trilogy movies are the final arc of the story and, for fans, if they want to finish it, they have to watch it.” Purini also noted that “the production teams have not announced the exact release date” for the final two chapters in the trilogy as of yet, although the Japanese-language voice recordings for the entire trilogy have reportedly been completed.
Although most fans in North America will have to wait until Sept. 12 before they can see Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle in theaters for themselves, there are plenty who will get the chance to see it early thanks to the biggest anime subscription service in the world. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that certain Crunchyroll subscribers will be able to get their tickets for exclusive screenings of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle set to take place as early as Sept. 9. Both Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan subscribers are eligible to purchase tickets for these upcoming early release screenings.
While Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle heats up the franchise’s already fervent fan base as it approaches its end, the original Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, which concluded in 2020, shows no signs of slowing down. In July, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba officially surpassed the 220 million units mark for the number of individual volumes currently in circulation. This marks a momentous occasion for the fan-favorite manga series from creator Koyoharu Gotouge — yet it is still more than 30 million copies away from catching up with the number six manga on the list of all-time bestsellers, Naruto, whereas the top five spots on the list are currently dominated by seemingly insurmountable competition, including One Piece and Dragon Ball.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle arrives in theaters across North America for the general public on Sept. 12. Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan subscribers will be able to see the film in select theaters beginning Sept. 9.
