DG ISPR warns India of decisive response to aggression, water blockade threats

Pakistan’s military has reiterated its commitment to regional peace while warning India against further provocations, including any attempt to block water supplies or violate Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In an interview with The New York Times, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that despite recent hostilities, communication channels between Pakistani and Indian military officials remain functional through established mechanisms.

The DG ISPR referred to India’s missile strike on May 7, 2025 — targeting Noor Khan Airbase and other locations — saying that Pakistan responded in a measured and responsible manner while swiftly restoring its air force capabilities. He confirmed that the Pakistan Air Force had downed six Indian fighter jets in response.

Major General Chaudhry questioned India’s transparency regarding the consequences of its actions and highlighted Pakistan’s open disclosure of its human and material losses. He stated that while Pakistan continues to honor the ceasefire agreement, India persists with provocations, undermining regional stability.

In a separate interview with an international outlet about “Operation Ma’arka-e-Haq”, the DG ISPR issued a stern warning against any Indian move to disrupt Pakistan’s water supply, calling such an act reckless and dangerous.

“No one should dare to stop Pakistan’s water. We hope it never comes to that, but if it does, the world will witness our response,” said Lieutenant General Chaudhry. He called any attempt to halt water flow to Pakistan’s 240 million people an act only a “madman” would consider, adding that India does not possess the courage to take such a step.

He stressed that Pakistan desires peace and avoids targeting civilians, but any breach of its sovereignty would be met with an immediate and decisive military response.

“Our message is clear: we prefer peace, but we are fully prepared to defend ourselves if provoked,” he asserted.
