DG PSB visits PFF House, vows backing for nationwide football development
LAHORE – Director General of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Muhammad Yasir Pirzada, paid an official visit to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Headquarters, Football House in Lahore, on Thursday, where he reaffirmed the PSB’s commitment to revitalizing football across the country.
Pirzada was warmly welcomed by senior PFF officials, including Head of Legal Ali Akram and Director of Human Resources Aziz Malik. The visit marks a significant step towards enhanced cooperation between the PSB and the PFF in light of the federation’s renewed mandate under the leadership of its newly elected President, Syed Mohsen Gilani.
During the meeting, Yasir Pirzada congratulated the PFF for conducting its historic and transparent elections. He lauded the new leadership’s vision and reiterated the PSB’s full support for ongoing efforts to uplift football in Pakistan, especially through sustainable development, inclusive participation, and modernised infrastructure. A central point of discussion was the proposed renovation and upgradation of Punjab Stadium in Lahore. The DG PSB emphasised the importance of aligning the facility with international standards, similar to the recently upgraded Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, to ensure better hosting of national and international football events.
The talks also extended to nationwide football development initiatives. Pirzada expressed the PSB’s readiness to back the PFF’s strategic roadmap, which focuses on the expansion of grassroots infrastructure, promotion of youth and women’s football, and the establishment of robust professional league systems. This collaborative dialogue highlighted a mutual understanding between the two organisations to work in close coordination for the revival of football, a sport with immense potential and popularity across Pakistan.
