Dhanbad: Electrician’s daughter Ankita Dutta tops JAC Class 12 Science stream in Jharkhand, scores 477 marks
Dhanbad : Dhanbad’s Ankita Dutta has emerged as the state topper in the Science stream in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Class 12 examinations. The results were declared on Saturday by Education Minister Ramdas Soren at the JAC campus in Ranchi.

Ankita, a student of Rajkiyakrit +2 High School, Govindpur, Dhanbad, secured an outstanding 477 marks out of 500, achieving a percentage of 95.4%. She is the daughter of Pralay Dutta, an electrician’s helper in a private company. Her remarkable achievement has brought pride to her family and the entire Dhanbad district.
Despite modest family circumstances, Ankita excelled through self-discipline and smart study techniques. She revealed that YouTube played a key role in her exam preparation and that she studied for at least three hours each day. “My goal is to become an engineer,” said Ankita, who is now preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). She is the eldest of three sisters, all of whom are currently studying.
Her father expressed his joy and surprise at her success. “Ankita has always been good at studies. We expected her to top her school, but never imagined she would become the state topper,” he said with pride.
The acting headmaster of her school, Vijay Kumar Tanti, described Ankita as a bright and promising student who has consistently performed well.
Following Ankita is Ankit Kumar Sah from Noamundi Inter College, who secured 476 marks.
This year, the overall pass percentage in the Science stream stood at 79.26%, with over 98,000 students appearing for the examination.
