The road to being Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist didn’t come without challenges for Aamir Khan. Today, he might not need too much promotion or groundwork for spreading a word about his movie, but back in the days, when he initially started, he showed unmatched dedication in promoting his work, especially his first movie, ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’

Aamir Khan’s humble beginnings

In a time when grand promotional events and extravagant efforts were not a part of the Bollywood industry, Aamir Khan took the most unconventional route to promoting his first-ever movie. Along with his cousin and co-star Raj Zutshi, Aamir personally visited the busy streets of Mumbai to distribute the posters of his upcoming film. They approached rickshaw drivers and humbly asked them to put up the posters on the back of their vehicles. Went from person to person to distribute as many posters as they could. The idea was simple, yet impactful – to create hype amongst the public, especially the common man, so they could get the audience to come and watch the movie. This idea was a testament to Aamir’s dedication and hunger to succeed in the industry and showed that he was prepared to go above and beyond to promote his films.

‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’

The movie, ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ was released in 1988 and featured Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in their breakthrough roles. It is known as the landmark Bollywood romance movie. The story follows Raj and Rashmi, two young lovers whose relationship is endangered because of the feuding past of their families. The film is celebrated for its tender storytelling, heartfelt acting and memorable music by Anand-Milind, including the classic hits, ‘Papa Khete Hai’ and ‘Ae Mere Humsafar.’ The major success of the film led Aamir Khan to grow into a household name and Juhi to become a leading actress in Indian cinema.

‘Sitaaare Zameen Par’

Fastforward to the present times, Aamir Khan recently released the trailer of his upcoming next – ‘Sitaare Zameen Par.’ It is a heart-warming story celebrating sportsmanship and the world of special needs kids. The movie is slated to release on June 20, 2025.
