A new chapter is officially starting at Dior. On Thursday at an annual investors meeting, LVMH’s chairman and chief executive officer, Bernard Arnault, confirmed one piece of long-expected news: Former Loewe designer Jonathan Anderson is the new head of menswear at Dior, succeeding Kim Jones. Anderson will present his first collection during men’s fashion week in Paris in June. Arnault did not comment on whether Anderson will also soon take over the womenswear side of the business, as widely expected in the industry for months. Maria Grazia Chiuri remains the Dior’s creative director for women and is set to present the label’s cruise collection in Rome at the end of May. Jones, however, had already officially exited Dior Men in January.
Anderson’s first Dior collection will be one of many highly anticipated designer debuts in Europe this year. Matthieu Blazy is getting started at Chanel, while Louise Trotter fills in for him at Bottega Veneta. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez recently succeeded Anderson at Loewe. And Demna is wrapping up at Balenciaga before heading to Gucci.
