Does Sandeep Pradeep and Sharafudheen’s body swap movie tease a sequel?

Padakkalam, which was released on JioHotstar on June 11, 2025, has been winning much appreciation from the younger audience on social media. An ancient game is the crux of the fantasy comedy film, which leads to a body swap between the three main characters of college student Jithin (Sandeep Pradeep), professor Shaji (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and Renjith (Sharafudheen). So were they able to switch back to their original bodies in Padakkalam finally, and did the movie end with a tease for a sequel? Read on to know what happened at the climax of Manu Swaraj’s Padakkalam (Spoilers ahead!)

After the body swap, Renjith enters Sandeep Pradeep’s body, while Shaji becomes Renjith and enjoys the perks of being an HOD and a much-loved professor. And the college student appears as professor Shaji. The mix-up obviously leads to confusion and hilarious situations that go beyond the college campus as Shafi’s wife approaches her estranged husband with the news that she is pregnant. But Jithin, who is now Shafi, is scandalised to hear this and outrightly denies any role.

With this, the real Shafi, who up until now was enjoying his life as Ranjith and was against returning to his original life, joins hands with Jithin to reverse the effects of the game. Jithin’s loyal friends are also part of this whole melee and are helping with solving the problem.

One needs to have two dice and the board to play the game. But they realise that Ranjith is happy to live as Jithin as his original body does not have a long life.

In the climax, Jithin escapes with the dice, but the other two get hold of it. As Jithin faces off with Ranjith, Shafi plays the game and finishes it. Just then, Ranjith (Shafi) jumps off the window before all three return to their original selves. So the real Ranjith is now seriously injured, while Jithin and Shafi get back their original bodies.

As the end credits roll, the friends receive a call from the doctor, who informs them that Ranjith has escaped from the hospital. Considering that Padakkalam has been winning over the audiences, this hints that a sequel could be on the cards.
