For the first time, iHeartRadio’s long-running Wango Tango is returning and taking its summer kickoff concert to the beach and, in doing so, is setting the stage for a new era of global music stars.

Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the 102.7 KIIS FM Wango Tango comeback concert will take place at Huntington City Beach with an all-star lineup touching all facets of the music world from mainstream pop, hip-hop, and dance including David Guetta, Doja Cat, Gwen Stefani and Meghan Trainor. But beyond the mainstream powerhouses, this year’s festival is making a statement with a diverse showcase of rising K-pop and global stars.

Wango Tango has long been a launchpad for rising as well as international artists breaking into the U.S. market — hosting beloved groups like Wonder Girls, 5 Seconds of Summer, R5, Fifth Harmony, CNCO, and Tomorrow X Together early in their careers — and its 2025 edition reflects K-pop’s ever-growing global influence.

Known for their experimental “mixx pop” sound, NMIXX leads the lineup as the girl group has been gaining traction with their high-energy performances and ambitious vocal runs that earned them an entry on the Billboard 200 with the 2023 album Expérgo as well as Fe3O4: Break from last year. NMIXX has toured across the U.S., Asia, Latin, and South America in the past and was recently the first Korean act to take part in Billboard’s Latin Music Week in Miami.

Rising boy band xikers is also bringing their fiery, hip-hop-infused stage style to Wango Tango just as the 10-member act returns to the U.S. as part of their ‘Road to XY: Enter the Gate’ world tour. Housed under the label of KQ Entertainment as their stadium-filling and Coachella-performing seniors ATEEZ, xikers performing in Wango Tango marks a major mainstream-music moment for the growing group that has landed two of their four EPs on the Billboard 200.

Also on the lineup is KATSEYE, the six-member international girl group formed through the reality show The Debut: Dream Academy, who represents HYBE America’s strategic push into the Western pop market in blending K-pop polish with a more globalized image. KATSEYE recently broke onto the radio charts with their single “Touch” and reached No. 32 on Billboard’s Pop Songs airplay tally.

Adding to the mix are two fresh names entering the pop world in the last few months.

The first is A2O MAY, a five-member Chinese girl group that debuted late last year with “Under My Skin (A2O),” released in English and Chinese. The quintet comes from A2O Entertainment, the new venture from K-pop industry legend Lee Soo-Man, the namesake and founder of leading Korean agency SM Entertainment. While Lee oversaw some top K-pop acts like BoA, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, EXO and aespa through the years, A2O marks his first venture after exiting his company in 2023. On its website, the company says it will bring in a new generation of “Zalpha Pop” music which is a genre representing a “distinctive musical style showcased by A2O Entertainment’s artists, primarily from Generation Z [Gen Z] and Generation Alpha [Gen A].” A2O MAY is the first group entering the global market.

At the same time, Wango Tango will welcome newcomer Hearts2Hearts, SM Entertainment’s latest act and first girl group to debut without Lee’s creative direction. The eight-member outfit entered the K-pop scene on February 24 with their debut single, “The Chase.” This American appearance comes less than a month after the group arrived, showing an early eagerness to connect with international fans.

“We’re thrilled to bring Wango Tango back, knowing fans have been eagerly awaiting its return,” Beata Murphy, Program Director of iHeartMedia Los Angeles’ 102.7 KIIS FM, said in a press release. “This year, we’re elevating the experience with an unforgettable day of music, energy, and beachside vibes — everything that defines SoCal. We’re also shaking things up by featuring some of the biggest artists with extended set times, unlike ever before.”

Indeed, with the K-pop industry’s framework continuing to diversify and extend its reach globally, Wango Tango 2025 highlights how the industry’s new wave of artists is evolving and embracing far beyond traditional pop names.
