DP World has expanded its automotive logistics capacity at Jebel Ali Port with the launch of a 2.6 million square foot vehicle yard at Terminal 4, adding 13,000 car equivalent units (CEUs).

The move increases the port’s total vehicle storage capacity to 75,000 CEUs, reinforcing Dubai’s position as the region’s leading automotive trade hub. The expansion features an 800-metre quay, enabling the terminal to accommodate up to three roll-on or roll-off (RoRo) vessels at once.

DP World has also shifted RoRo operations from Terminal 1 to the new purpose-built facility at Terminal 4. This reallocation is expected to enhance berth availability, accelerate vessel turnaround times, and free up space to handle rising demand.

“Dubai is scaling up its role as a global automotive trade hub and this expansion gives car manufacturers, dealers, and logistics providers faster, more reliable access to key markets across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.”

Shahab Al Jassmi, SVP Commercial, Ports and Terminals, DP World GCC, commented that, “This is a customer focused investment. More yard space, quicker service and reliable berth availability are all designed to help the automotive supply chain grow.”

The announcement comes amid a notable surge in vehicle volumes. During the first half of 2025, Jebel Ali Port handled 545,000 vehicles, marking a 28 percent year-on-year increase. Of these, 65 percent were imports, primarily originating from China, Japan, Thailand, India, and South Korea.

The Terminal 4 upgrade is part of DP World’s broader automotive strategy, which includes plans to develop a 20 million square foot advanced car market in Dubai, set to become the largest of its kind globally. These initiatives are aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033 and establish it as a world leader in smart trade and logistics.
