Country singer Gavin Adcock maintained his composure after a concertgoer attempted to rush the stage and lunge at him mid-performance — only to be tackled by security during a Wichita, Kansas, show.
The 26-year-old was working through his set when the reportedly drunk fan jumped the barrier and charged toward him, caught on camera by jeering fans.
The stage invader was quickly taken down by security staff before Adcock, unfazed, shouted into the microphone: “Get his drunk ass outta here!”
The clip, posted by Adcock himself on Instagram, drew mocking replies from followers, with one joking that the man was a Beyoncé fan “coming to take up for talking sh*t about his idol.”
Adcock sparked controversy in June after launching a tirade against the pop icon following the success of her country-leaning album Cowboy Carter. At the time, as Beyoncé’s album sat high in country charts, he was lining up to release his debut record, My Own Worst Enemy.
“That sh*t ain’t country music and it ain’t ever been country music, and it ain’t gonna be country music,” he said.
The remarks were met with backlash online. The singer later attempted to soften his stance, praising Beyoncé’s 2016 Super Bowl halftime show as “pretty kicka** back in the day” while doubling down that Cowboy Carter “shouldn’t be labeled as country music.”
