Duvall, Carnation have music crawls in August

Their organizer wants a music crawl in every Valley town.

The Duvall Music Crawll is back for 2025, and with it comes the first ever Carnation crawl.

Both multi-venue, traveling concert events are organized by local Morgan Henley of Morgan Henley presents. The Duvall crawl will consist of different acts at four locations each Saturday in August. Each crawl starts at Grateful Bread from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continues at McCormick Park from 1 to 4 p.m., The Grange from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Duvall Tavern from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event is “fueled” by the city of Duvall and the Duvall Chamber of Commerce, Henley said.

The Duvall Music Crawl is smaller this year due to budget restraints, he said, but will have 20 artists throughout the month. There’s a variety of acts: out-of-state names include Chicago blues musician Justin Howl and Portland-based Sweet N’ Juicy, a funk, soul and rock band. Snoqualmie Valley locals include Sheyenne Leonard, Chase Rabideau, Alex Rasmussen and Mountain Ear.

In other changes, this year’s crawl will swap some venue placements around to meet locals where they already are on a summer afternoon: the beach.

“People are not coming out, walking down Main Street in 80 degrees,” Henley said. “So we’re bringing music to the beach down at McCormick Park, where people spend a lot of the afternoon, and then we’re coming back to Main Street for The Grange and the Duvall Tavern.”

Last year, Henley said, the Duvall crawl caught the attention of Rhonda Ender, Carnation city manager, and they decided to partner on a similar event in Carnation. This year’s inaugural Carnation crawl is Aug. 17 only, but Henley hopes to make it annual and expand it in future years.

Two of the “most well-known bands in Western Washington” are playing the Carnation crawl, Henley said. Americana group Massy Ferguson is playing at Miller’s, and rock/blues/pop band Eden is playing at Pour House Pete’s.
