EBRD Appoints Haytham Eissa as Director for Morocco
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Haytham Eissa as the Bank’s Director for Morocco, succeeding Antoine Sallé de Chou.
Based in Casablanca, Eissa will oversee the EBRD’s investments and operations in Morocco and will work under Mark Davis, Managing Director for the SEMED region (Southern and Eastern Mediterranean), according to a press release from the EBRD.
“I am honored to take on this new responsibility. Building on the EBRD’s strong track record in Morocco, I am committed to generating an even greater impact in the years ahead,” Eissa said.
An Egyptian and British national, Eissa joined the Bank in 2012 and became Regional Head of Infrastructure for the SEMED region, as well as Deputy Director for Egypt.
He played a central role in establishing the EBRD’s infrastructure activities in the region and led numerous award-winning flagship transactions in the transport and municipal services sectors, as well as Morocco’s infrastructure support program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before joining the EBRD, Eissa, who holds an Executive MBA ( Master of Business Administration) from Warwick Business School and a BBA ( Bachelor of Business Administration ) in International Business from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, held various positions in investment banking and corporate leasing, advising on major mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions in the Middle East and Africa.
It should be noted that Morocco is a founding member of the EBRD. Since launching its operations in the country in 2012, the Bank has invested more than €5.8 billion across 123 projects.
