Designer shoes are expensive, and often not worth the investment because they can get scuffed in a matter of minutes of slipping them onto your feet. Well, that’s my view anyway.
I have lusted after Gucci’s embellished footwear range for months, whether it’s the mules, covered toe boot, or the Slingback Pumps, but the steep price tags are not something my bank balance will thank me for.
So, in a bid to get the designer look for less, and reduce my anxiety over scuffing or spoiling any expensive luxury footwear, I have spied an affordable alternative from Ego, and I can barely tell the difference.
Averie Diamante Detail Pointed Toe Slingback Court Heel
Made from synthetic material to create the mesh exterior, which is emblazoned with glass crystals in a link chain pattern on the toe.These high heels feature a slightly chunkier heel than stilettos, as well as a pointed toe. The slingback style also boast a strap detail and buckle fastening to keep your feet in place.Available in UK sizes three to nine, as well as in three shades: black, nude and burgundy.

Gucci Women’s Slingback Pump
Gucci’s diamante footwear collection has been popular for some time, and the Slingback Pumps appear to be the most popular style. They feature a pointed toe, slingback detail with buckle strap fastening, as well as a kitten heel measuring 3.5cm in height. The upper is made from mesh fabric with the brand’s signature GG logo emblazoned in crystals, while the sole and lining has been crafted from leather. Available in Italian sizes 32 to 44, with half sizes available.

Ego’s Averie Diamante Detail Pointed Toe Slingback Court Heels look very similar to Gucci’s Women’s Slingback Pump.
Both shoes feature the same pointed toe, slingback, as well as a strap fastening with the buckle detail to keep your feet and heel secure.
The Gucci heels have been crafted from a mesh upper fabric, and the crystals on top spell out the brand’s GG motif. Whereas, Ego’s dazzling embellishment resembles a chain pattern, which we actually prefer. After all, quiet luxury is still a hit trend, which means a pivot to subtle branding.
While the crystal motif may be one difference, it is so subtle it could easily be missed, especially under wide leg jeans or suit trousers. However, the main standout difference, aside from the price, is the heel height.
Gucci’s heels are a short heel measuring 3.5cm, whereas Ego’s footwear is a high heel. Thankfully, Ego’s heel is slightly thicker than a stiletto, which will help keep wearers a little more steady on their feet.
Ego’s heels are available in classic black, as well as nude and burgundy, which is the colour of the moment. However, Gucci’s design is only available in black.
The sizing is also different. Ego’s designs come in UK shoe sizes three to nine, whereas Gucci’s Italian sizes range from 34 to 42, which is a UK 1 to 8, plus half sizes are available.
Not only are Gucci’s Slingback Pumps over £800 more expensive, they are also selling out fast, which is why Ego’s £27 heels are a no-brainer for those wanting the luxury look for less.
Pair with wide leg jeans, a crisp t-shirt and blazer, a co-ord suit, or a black dress – with bare legs or tights – the Ego heels will be your forever evening footwear go-to.
