The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia organized a football tournament with the participation of the clubs “Sportuni” of the Georgian University of Sports and “Kartli” of the Vake Football Center. The event took place within the framework of the celebration of the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the press service of the Turkmen Embassy in Tbilisi reported.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov noted at the opening ceremony of the tournament that holding sports events is an important component of Turkmenistan’s policy to strengthen international cooperation and promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle.

“Thanks to the efforts of the President of Turkmenistan, a lot of work is being done in the country to actively implement the principles of a healthy lifestyle, popularize and develop physical education and sports, and strengthen international cooperation in this area,” the diplomat emphasized.

The Ambassador noted that the sports diplomacy of independent and neutral Turkmenistan is aimed at expanding international sports cooperation in the name of peace and progress.

Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov particularly emphasized the importance of the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, which took place in Ashgabat on March 7, 2025, during which a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of sports was signed between the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Sports of Georgia. According to the ambassador, this football tournament is a clear example of the implementation of the provisions of the signed document.

The seven-day tournament ended with the awarding of certificates to all participants. The young football players demonstrated a beautiful, emotional and competitive game.
