President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday inaugurated a two-day ‘National Conference on Environment – 2025’, organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), aimed at bringing together key stakeholders to discuss pressing environmental challenges and future action plans for sustainable management.
While seeking wide-scale participation from youngsters in environmental transition, the President asserted that ecological protection and promotion will be possible only through continuous activism based on awareness. She urged the institutions associated with the environment management eco-system and citizens to continuously strive to protect the environment.
“We all also have to think about what kind of air our children will breathe, what kind of water they will get to drink, whether they will be able to hear birds chirp or not, whether they will be able to experience the beauty of lush green forests or not,” said Ms. Murmu.
“It is our moral responsibility to provide a legacy of a clean environment to the coming generations. For this, we will have to adopt an environmentally conscious and sensitive lifestyle so that the environment is protected and enhanced. Balancing a clean environment and modern development is both an opportunity and a challenge,” she added.
Justice Prakash Shrivastava, the NGT chairperson, said what makes this conference truly exceptional is its inclusivity. It brings together jurists, experts, faculty, and students, all united by a common vision of sustainability and environmental stewardship, he added.
