(MENAFN- KNN India)
New Delhi, Jun 13 (KNN) Epsilon Carbon has begun production of N134 hard carbon black at its Vijayanagar facility, marking a significant milestone as the first company in India to establish a dedicated manufacturing unit for this specialised grade.

The production launch has increased the facility’s total annual carbon black manufacturing capacity to 215,000 tonnes.

The N134 grade represents a high-performance variant of carbon black specifically engineered for tyre and rubber manufacturing applications.

This material is distinguished by its superior abrasion resistance and enhanced durability characteristics, making it particularly valuable for premium tyre production.

The manufacturing initiative supports India’s broader economic objectives, including the government’s Make in India program and import substitution strategy.

The domestic production of N134 carbon black is expected to reduce India’s reliance on imported materials while simultaneously creating opportunities for export to premium international markets, particularly in the United States and Europe.

Vikram Handa, Managing Director, Epsilon Carbon, emphasised the strategic importance of this development during the facility launch.

He noted that the high-quality N134 production would substantially decrease import dependency while providing both domestic and international tyre manufacturers with access to reliable, premium-grade materials.

The company’s objective is to achieve global quality standards while strengthening India’s position in serving high-end market segments.

The timing of this production launch coincides with growing global demand for performance tyres, positioning the N134 grade to enhance India’s participation in the international carbon black industry.

This new product offering expands Epsilon Carbon’s existing portfolio, which encompasses various hard and soft carbon black grades designed for tyre and rubber applications.

The development represents a strategic advancement in India’s manufacturing capabilities within the specialty chemicals sector, particularly in materials critical to the automotive and transportation industries.
