Ex-Portsmouth striker and Wycombe target Kusini Yengi on next move

The Australian international will leave Fratton Park when his contract expires on June 30, and it has been suggested that the Chairboys are trying to bring the forward to Adams Park.

However, Mike Dodds’ side is currently one of several teams interested in the attacker.

The 26-year-old has spent the last two weeks in the United Arab Emirates with members of his country’s national team, as the Socceroos take on Japan and Saudi Arabia in two World Cup qualifiers this month.

But it has been revealed by the Portsmouth News that Yengi has been cut from the squad.

When asked about his future by Fox Sports Australia, he said: “I’m at an age right now where I need to make sure that this next decision is a good one and I’m able to play consistent football.

“For me, I’d love to stay in Europe, but I’m open to everything.”

Yengi scored 14 goals for John Mousinho’s team in his maiden year in England following a move from Western Sydney Wanderers.

He helped Portsmouth secure the 2024 League One title and promotion to the Championship, ending a 12-year stint away from the division.

However, an injury-hit 2024/25 campaign saw Yengi play just 14 times – six of these outings have come since New Year’s Day.

He also failed to score for the club in the campaign that has just finished, with his only goals of the season coming internationally.

These came in a 2-2 draw against Bahrain in a 2026 World Cup qualifier last November.
