Exclusive: Bosch India Embraces Strategic Partnerships, Investments to Drive Next-Gen Mobility

Bosch India plans to expand investments in electric vehicle manufacturing, new products, engineering capabilities, and strategic partnerships as the mobility industry undergoes a rapid transformation, particularly with the rise of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) connectivity.

The company believes that it needs to transition from a siloed approach to an open, partnership-driven model to keep pace with the industry’s evolving demands. “The time has come to move away from doing everything in-house. In today’s world, developing everything independently is no longer necessary. Collaboration with strategic partners is now essential for driving progress and scaling efficiently,” said Guruprasad Mudlapur, Managing Director, Bosch Ltd and President, Bosch Group in India.

“The speed of transformation in mobility, particularly with SDVs, has significantly reduced time-to-market. To keep up, we need partnerships that enable faster feature development and system integration,” said Sandeep Nelamangala, Joint Managing Director, Bosch Limited, and President of Bosch Mobility.

According to Mudlapur, Bosch India has ample financial reserves, ensuring investment flexibility to support its growth and transformation initiatives. On an average, the company invests around ₹600 crore per year, though the investment levels can fluctuate based on business requirements. It also has flexibility to scale investments up or down, depending on market dynamics and strategic priorities.

As part of its investment and restructuring strategy, Bosch India is focusing on forming partnerships across multiple domains, including:
• Electrification – Strengthening EV technology and power solutions.
• Compute – Enhancing centralised computing capabilities in vehicles.
• Cross-Domain Software Services – Enabling seamless interaction between powertrain, safety, and connectivity.
• Mobility Solutions – Improving efficiency and intelligence through software and platform-driven approaches.

A New Approach to Mobility

Bosch is also expanding beyond traditional mobility solutions with a platform-driven strategy, beginning with logistics. The company has developed a global logistics operating system that is currently being managed in India, Europe, and North America.

“We are moving towards a platform-based business model, starting with logistics, to enhance efficiency in mobility. This is a completely new play that allows us to make a larger impact in the market,” Nelamangala explained.

As part of this initiative, Bosch is partnering with Pax and other accounting software providers, but some of these collaborations are not yet public.

The logistics operating system, which functions as a dedicated business unit with a global reach, is enabling greater connectivity and efficiency in fleet and supply chain operations, according to the company’s management. Bosch is also forming new collaborations across industries to integrate digital transformation and platform-driven solutions in mobility.

Future of Partnerships in Mobility

While Bosch remains committed to core mobility solutions, the company acknowledges that the definition of partnerships is evolving. The future of mobility collaboration extends beyond traditional automotive players, encompassing cross-industry technology partnerships that will drive digital transformation and efficiency.

“The future of mobility is about integration, collaboration, and speed. Partnering with technology leaders across industries will allow us to accelerate progress while remaining at the forefront of this evolving ecosystem,” said Nelamangala.

With increased investments in EVs, engineering, and partnerships, Bosch India is positioning itself as a leader in the next generation of mobility, leveraging co-development, digital solutions, and platform-based approaches to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market.
