‘Eyes on Gaza’: Athens Hosts Urgent Forum on Humanitarian Crisis

As the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip deepens dramatically, the Technopolis City of Athens is organizing a critical public event titled “Eyes on Gaza”. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 at 7:00 p.m., the gathering will take place at Gasholder 1 – “Miltiadis Evert” Amphitheater, aiming to raise awareness, foster public dialogue, and provide up-to-date information on the escalating emergency—620 days after the imposition of a total blockade by Israel.

The initiative comes at a time when civilian casualties continue to rise, access points for humanitarian aid remain largely sealed, and international acts of solidarity are systematically obstructed. With the people of Gaza enduring one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent decades, the need for global attention and informed public discourse has never been more urgent.

“Eyes on Gaza” will bring together a distinguished panel of politicians, journalists, and academics from Palestine, Israel, and Greece. Their diverse perspectives aim to shed light on the complex realities and stakes surrounding the Gaza Strip, encouraging a deeper understanding among attendees and viewers.

Athens Mayor Haris Doukas will deliver the opening remarks. The discussion will feature live video appearances by two prominent figures: Palestinian politician, academic, and activist Hanan Ashrawi, and Israeli politician, intellectual, and author Avraham Burg. The event will be moderated by journalist Anastasia Giamali.

The event will be broadcast live on Athens 9.84 radio and live-streamed via YouTube and the official Facebook page of the Technopolis City of Athens.
