F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali Honors Late Giorgio Armani’s Legacy

Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali has paid tribute to legendary designer Giorgio Armani, who passed away yesterday aged 91. Armani leaves behind a huge legacy that will be remembered for many generations to come.

Armani revolutionized fashion across the world and redefined luxury through his iconic fashion empire. His brand has been linked to premier class racing in the past, with the most prominent recent agreement being with the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team, which began in 2021.

Domenicali’s tribute to Armani was shared by F1 on social media. The statement read:

“Today, Formula 1 joins the world in commemorating the life and legacy of Giorgio Armani, a true pioneer and inspiration.

“Giorgio Armani was not only a master of his craft, but also an example of passion and creativity that touched many aspects of culture, including our sport.

“His influence extends beyond fashion and reaches the hearts of anyone who appreciates design, style and elegance.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and loved ones.

“His legacy will live on forever.”

The post honoring Armani has attracted over 430,000 likes, with many fans pointing out his link to F1. Some comments are stated below.

This fan knows about Armani’s relationship with Charles Leclerc:

“Y’all are missing the point. F1 isn’t ‘mixing fashion with racing’, Giorgio Armani was literally part of this world, he designed the Ferrari team’s formal uniforms, dressing the drivers and crew off-track and helping build the elegant image Ferrari is known for!!!

“Plus, Armani was close to Charles, who is an ambassador for the brand. so yes, it makes perfect sense for Formula 1 to pay tribute. F1 is not just engines and lap times — it’s culture, image, and the lifestyle around the sport. The tribute is more than deserved!!!” [sic]

Another F1 link:

“Sad news. He was sponsor of Brabham in F1 back in 1986-1987 as well. RIP Giorgio.”

Sad day indeed:

“Black day for Italy and fashion world.”

A fan’s noteworthy comment:

“F1 is not just about engines racing around circuits, it’s about culture, fashion and team spirit. That’s what had kept the game for the past 75yrs. Glad Giorgio Armani was paid his deserved tribute for his numerous inputs to the sports, he will forever be remembered.”

Will Ferrari make it a 1-2 finish at Monza?

“Another magnificent example of Passion! Forza Ferrari let’s pay tribute with 1-2 at Monza this weekend!”

An F1 fan’s unexpected learning:

“This cannot be how I learn about this (but rip).”

Armani’s fashion empire reportedly generates over $2.7 billion annually. His health was said to be declining in recent months. He even skipped Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week in June.

Our thoughts are with Giorgio Armani’s family at this difficult time.
