‘Fantastic Four’ Star Says Movie Will Save The MCU

There was a time when it seemed like Marvel Studios simply could not do wrong. Then came “Eternals,” “Ant-Man & The Wasp Quantumania,” and other films that underperformed both with critics and audiences. Not to mention Disney+ TV projects like “Secret Invasion” that failed to garner interest. Now “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” star Paul Walter Hauser says he thinks his movie is the one that will reinvigorate the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to The Direct, Hauser said, “So I think our movie, ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ to me, only speaking from my opinion, everything I witnessed and took part in, everything I felt while in the presence of the creatives on the film, I believe we are the Marvel movie of the year. I believe we are the one to watch.”

Hauser went a bit further, comparing “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” to other films that likewise were positive turning points for the MCU.

“And I believe that this will go down in history as one of the ones that started a new tide of successful storytelling for the company,” Hauser predicted. “Sort of in the same way the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Black Panther’ hit. They both hit in a certain way. I believe we are about to hit.”

Hauser also defended Marvel, reminding us how impossible it would be for the company to get a grand slam every time. “Let’s remember that Marvel is servicing a lot of folks, and they want to make a lot of entertainment for people to enjoy, and none of us are 100%,” Hauser said. “None of us hit the mark every time. Not a single one of us. Your favorite director has made a less-than-satisfactory movie. Just facts.”

With four months to go until the premiere of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” there are still a lot of unknowns about the film. Hauser is a perfect example of this; we still don’t know who he’s playing just as we don’t know about the characters played by John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, or Sarah Niles.

Many suspect that April 4 (i.e. 4/4) will bring with it more details and perhaps a new trailer.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” releases in theaters July 25, 2025. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, Julia Garner, Ralph Ineson, John Malkovich, and Sarah Niles.
