FarMart enters Indian packaged food market, bets on quick commerce for growth, ET Retail

New Delhi:FarMart, a tech-driven food supply platform, has launched its packaged food brand FarMart Pantry in India, expanding beyond its B2B roots. The move follows its debut in the Middle East last year.

The company is introducing 27 pantry staples including chakki atta, basmati rice, pulses, and millet-based products, through quick commerce platforms such as Blinkit and Zepto, as well as modern retail chains like Nature’s Basket and Modern Bazaar.

Alekh Sanghera, CEO and Co-founder of FarMart, said the company is targeting 50% of its revenue from quick commerce channels this year. “We view quick commerce as a critical lever to build direct brand recall and engage today’s modern, convenience-driven consumer,” he said.

FarMart’s expansion in India is being pursued through an omnichannel model. Along with Q-commerce, it is focusing on strengthening its presence in supermarkets and premium general trade outlets, starting with Delhi NCR and other major metros.

Despite its entry into consumer-facing retail, the company plans to remain digital-first and does not intend to set up standalone stores. “Our digital-first approach enables us to stay agile and scale faster,” Sanghera said.

FarMart expects over 70% of its total revenue this year to come from India, driven by growing demand across quick commerce, modern trade, and general trade formats. The company has already established a footprint in Delhi NCR, Haryana, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Looking ahead, FarMart plans to expand into functional foods, including khapli flour, multi-millet flour, and fortified variants, aligning with rising consumer demand for health-focused staples. The company is also exploring ready-to-cook traditional products to diversify its portfolio.

Founded in 2015, FarMart operates a tech-enabled food supply network across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, connecting over 300,000 farm-level aggregators to food businesses globally.
