FE Exclusive: Samsung to expand Smart TV lineup in India with AI-driven features: Top executive – Technology News
Samsung India is gearing up to launch over 40 new TVs powered by Vision AI. These TVs will come in various technologies, including Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and the lifestyle series, The Frame. Vision AI aims to offer a personalized, AI-powered screen experience and more. These TVs will feature different technologies—Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and the lifestyle series, Viplesh Dang, Senior Director and Head of the VD Business, Samsung India told Financial Express.
Discussing Vision AI further, Dang explained that it is built on three key pillars: AI Mode, AI Experience, and Multi-Device Experience.
Starting with AI Mode and picture quality, the system detects the genre of the content and automatically adjusts the settings. In Customization Mode, it also detects the brightness and surroundings of the room and automatically adjusts the screen brightness.
Regarding sound, Vision AI includes two features: Adaptive Sound and Adaptive Volume. It studies user habits—for instance, if a user watches news channels at volume 20 and sports content at volume 25, the system remembers these preferences and automatically sets the volume the next time similar content is played.
“All Vision AI-powered TVs are based on three pillars: AI Mode, which covers picture and sound quality; AI Experience; and Multi-Device Experience,” Dang reiterated. “The system detects the content genre and adjusts the settings accordingly. In Customization Mode, it senses the room’s brightness and adjusts the screen brightness automatically.”
Most importantly, all these TVs come with Samsung’s KNOX Security, which safeguards consumers from phishing sites and protects the personal information stored on the TV.
“What we’re delivering is safety along with an enjoyable viewing experience,” Dang said. “Last year was tough for everyone, but we’re happy to share that we were able to preserve our top line and consolidate our market position, thanks new feature related to safety and over all picture quality.”
Additionally, the South Korean tech giant will introduce a unique feature this year: Universal Gesture. Once synced with Galaxy Watch 4 or above, users will be able to control the TV through hand gestures—such as stopping, rewinding, or forwarding content. As part of the Multi-Device Experience, users can also use their mobile phones as a remote control or even as a karaoke mic, eliminating the need for a separate microphone.
