February 2025 – New Releases
Welcome to the Australian Art Music playlist! A monthly playlist of classical, jazz, experimental and electronic music focused on contemporary Australian composers, musicians and sound artists.
This month on the Australian Art Music playlist we’re taking a look at new and recent releases. There’s a running thread of delicateness in this selection, whether gentle softness, fluttering echoes, or unstable transition between sound worlds. Many tracks also lean toward the more experimental side of art music, so expect the unexpected and enjoy the surprises of what music can be.
Don’t forget if you have a new release coming out (or an older release not yet featured), please do send it through to me via email – it’s always exciting to see what our community is creating, and I’m sure there are excellent works I’ve missed!
If you’re wanting more music to explore I’d always recommend the Australian Art Music Archive, with all 1,555 previously featured tracks (roughly 158 hours of music) and my 2024 community listening project: 1,000 Curious Ears – all 12 monthly editions of that series can be found here.
Until next month, may you be inspired to curiosity by the strange and the new,
-Cameron
