Field Marshal Asim Munir hails political foresight, military might in historic victory over India

ISLAMABAD – Field Marshal, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir praised strategic acumen of Pakistan’s political leadership and the unified efforts of armed forces during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which led to the country’s successful outcome in recent clashes with arch-enemy India.

Army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), shared details of a high-profile dinner hosted by Field Marshal Munir after a ceremony earlier this week in which he was formally elevated to Five-star General.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conferred prestigious rank during a special ceremony held at the Presidency. The promotion acknowledges Munir’s decisive role in steering the country through a period of heightened military tensions, which ended with a US-brokered ceasefire.

At the dinner event, attended by senior government officials, political leaders, and top military brass, Field Marshal Munir thanked “strategic foresight” shown by national leadership, emphasizing signifcuance of inter-services cooperation, crediting it for the operational success of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

He also hailed vital contributions of Pakistan’s youth and media in countering India’s disinformation campaign, calling them a “steel wall” that stood firm against misinformation. The army chief further lauded the efforts of Pakistani scientists, engineers, and diplomats, noting that their expertise and resolve were instrumental during the conflict.

The was held to honor the “political leadership, the steadfast commitment of armed forces, and indomitable spirit of the people.” Attendees paid tribute to sacrifices made by armed forces and praised the unity and patriotism shown by the nation during a defining moment in its history.
