FinMin Aurangzeb departs for US to attend IMF, World Bank meetings
Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday departed for the United States to participate in the upcoming spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, scheduled to take place from April 21 to April 26.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the finance minister will hold bilateral meetings with senior officials of both the IMF and the World Bank during the course of the visit.
The engagements are expected to focus on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform programme and future cooperation under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
Mr Aurangzeb is also scheduled to meet with finance ministers from several key partner countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Officials said these interactions are aimed at strengthening bilateral economic and financial ties.
As part of his agenda, the finance minister will hold talks with senior representatives of the US State Department and the US Treasury, in addition to engaging with officials of leading global credit rating agencies, commercial banks and investment firms.
Mr Aurangzeb will also address international investors and economic experts at various investment forums and seminars, where he is expected to present Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook, reform trajectory and investment potential.
He is also slated to attend a meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, where climate financing and adaptation strategies are likely to be discussed.
