First car launches with Samsung Neo QLED display
Debuting at this year’s CES, the Samsung Neo QLED infotainment system has found its first home
At this year’s CES expo in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled its first Neo QLED infotainment systems for cars, part of its Ready Display series of automobile AV. Now, these Neo QLED displays have made their way into real-world cars with the Tata Motors Harrier EV SUV. The India-based manufacturer is utilizing Harman Automotive’s (an American subsidiary of Samsung) infotainment display, which features a Samsung Neo QLED panel.
On the audio front, the Harrier EV’s sound system is made up of JBL speakers, also owned by Samsung. The Neo QLED panel is made up of an LCD layer, a mini LED backlight system, and a quantum dot layer. Samsung says that this technology allows for a higher number of LEDs, which leads to deeper blacks and higher brightness. Quantum dot technology allows for a wider and richer color palette.
While Samsung’s line of Neo QLED infotainment displays have made their debut in India, other regions are expected to receive access to the technology in the near future, pending deals with manufacturers.
