This week’s edition, organised in collaboration with India Post, saw several cyclists sporting uniforms. The event also drew a large turnout of athletes, youth, and fitness enthusiasts.
Organised under the banner of the Fit India Movement, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the weekly cycling event promotes cycling as a sustainable, environment-friendly, and health-conscious lifestyle choice.
Speaking to a news agency, Tomar emphasized the importance of fitness in achieving success. “Staying fit is very important. If you’re fit, you can do anything. That’s what I’ve learned through sports,” he said.
Suneriya praised the government’s initiative, especially in light of rising obesity levels in the country. “It’s a great initiative that the Fit India movement is being held every Sunday. With obesity on the rise in India, this effort is truly commendable,” he said.
Rathee echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for young people to adopt an active lifestyle. He encouraged the younger generation to use bicycles instead of motorbikes to stay healthy and also appreciated the government’s efforts to promote healthy living through the Fit India Movement.
‘Sundays on Cycle’ is gaining popularity across the country, especially among school and college students, athletes, and working professionals. To ensure a smooth experience for cyclists, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory via social media.
The public was advised to avoid BP Marg, CGO Complex Road, and the surrounding areas of JLN Stadium between 6 am and 10 am on Sunday to allow for uninterrupted movement.
