Here are five of the best SAS tv shows and movies to watch.
SAS: Rogue Heroes
Location: North Africa during the Second World War.
Based on Ben Macintyre’s bestselling book, this series follows David Stirling and the unconventional soldiers who founded the SAS.
It combines action, humour and historical drama, focusing on daring raids behind enemy lines.
Ultimate Force
This television drama follows the fictional Red Troop unit, commanded by Sergeant Major Henno Garvie, played by Ross Kemp.
The series features hostage rescues, counter-terrorism operations and overseas deployments, and remains a recognisable portrayal of the SAS on television.
Six Days
Location: The London embassy during the Iranian Embassy Siege of 1980.
This gripping film recreates the six-day hostage crisis before the SAS launches its dramatic assault.
Although it takes some creative liberties, the movie offers an insight into the operation that brought the regiment into the public eye worldwide.
Who Dares Wins
Released shortly after the Iranian Embassy Siege, this classic British action film was inspired by the SAS and counter-terrorism operations.
Lewis Collins plays an SAS soldier tasked with infiltrating a terrorist organisation. The film later became a cult favourite.
SAS: Who Dares Wins
This challenge-based reality programme puts civilian contestants through gruelling physical and mental tests.
Former SAS operators, including Billy Billingham and other veterans, oversee the challenges, offering an insight into resilience, discipline and determination.
Together, these five productions provide varied portrayals of the SAS across television and film.
