Rotten Tomatoes have ranked all of Leonardo DiCaprio’s films based on their overall score from viewer ratings, and the top 10 is surprising, to say the least.

Based on honest fan reviews, coming out on top as Hollywood actors’s highest-rated film was the 2002 blockbuster Catch Me if You Can, but what else made its way to the top of the list?

Film fans may be surprised to see this forgotten oldie, featuring a young DiCaprio, at number 10, way above some of his most memorable movies.

The 1996 film Marvin’s Room boasts an impressive 84% score with over 400 reviews. This meant it found its way above the well-renowned Wolf of Wall Street, starring DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, which saw the actor play Jordan Belfort, a money-obsessed businessman.

Marvin’s Room features an impressive ensemble cast made up of a young budding DiCaprio, who was around 21 during the time of filming. Alongside him on screen are Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro and Hume Cronyn. In fact, her performance in the film saw Keaton receive an Academy Award nomination.

In a story of sisterhood, Bessie, played by Keaton, and Lee, played by Streep, are two estranged sisters who haven’t spoken to one another for almost 20 years. This is down to their starkly different personalities and life choices, but with some shocking health news, this is all about to change.

One sister stayed to care for their bedridden father, while the other moved to Ohio to start a family of her own, and it’s only when Bessie’s is diagnosed with leukaemia they are brought together again. Her doctor has informed her she requires a bone marrow transplant, leading to an unexpected family reunion.

A Rotten Tomatoes review claims: “This was such a compelling movie with great acting and storyline. I’d never heard of this one, but I’m so glad I watched it. There are some intense scenes, and it is a tearjerker. Meryl Streep was superb as usual, and I was very impressed with Diane Keaton as well. It’s definitely worth the watch.

Another viewer shared: “Presence of the two Oscar-winning actresses is great. Their convincing performances spark and create strong strains in the introductory scene that the two sisters see each other again after 20 years of estrangement.

“Meryl was 47 and Diane was 50 when the movie was released. Leonard was only 22. I believe the young actor has received significant influences from distinguished actors under the circumstances like this as I watch his recent performances.”

For those hoping to see a young DiCaprio in one of his most underrated movie roles, Marvin’s Room is available to rent on both Apple TV and Amazon Prime.
