Free live music returns to Gulf Shores beaches for 2025 Sunset Series

The City of Gulf Shores has unveiled its 2025 Sunset Series lineup, offering free, family-friendly concerts on the Town Green at Gulf Place, 101 Gulf Shores Parkway.

According to a news release, the performances run from 6-8 p.m., providing live music against the backdrop of the city’s white-sand beaches at sunset. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring friends, family and lawn chairs to enjoy the shows.

“We are excited to continue our Sunset Series,” said City of Gulf Shores Recreation and Cultural Affairs Director Grant Brown in the release. “Our city has put so much effort into making Gulf Place Public Beach a beautiful and relaxing spot for our residents and guests. We are excited to mix that beauty with free entertainment for everyone to enjoy.”

2025 SUNSET SERIES SCHEDULE

Sept. 4 – Fly-By Radio

Tuscaloosa, Alabama-based Fly-By Radio has become a regional favorite after playing hundreds of public and private events. The high-energy variety rock band features six performers with both male and female vocals. Originally focused on 1980s and 1990s hits, the band now blends tunes from the 1970s to today, performing at festivals, fairs and concerts across the Southeast.

Sept. 11 – Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band

Chubby Carrier grew up in Church Point, Louisiana, surrounded by Zydeco music. Influenced by his father, Roy Carrier, and grandfather, Warren Carrier, Chubby developed a passion for the genre at a young age. At 17, he received a life-changing invitation from Zydeco musician Terrence Simien to tour Europe, opening for rhythm and blues legend Fats Domino. Chubby later joined Simien and the Mallet Playboys full-time, further establishing his reputation in Zydeco music.

Sept. 18 – M-80s

Since 2008, Birmingham, Alabama’s M-80s have brought the sounds of the MTV era to the Southeast. The band performs popular 1980s rock and pop hits, offering audiences a nostalgic trip back to a time of big hair and even bigger tunes. Their energetic performances make it easy for fans to sing along to every song.

Sept. 25 – Frank Brown Songwriters Showcase

The Songwriters Showcase previews the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival. The evening features Wood Box Heroes, an acoustic supergroup blending country, bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock and classical influences. The band includes Matt Menefee on banjo, Barry Bales on bass, Jenee Fleenor on fiddle and singer-songwriter Josh Martin. Together, the group combines over a century of experience performing with top artists and receiving prestigious awards.

Sunset Series concerts are free to the public. Food trucks will be on site, and the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will sell beverages suitable for all ages.
