Garrison’s Convenience Stores has purchased The Hitchin’ Post, a convenience store and restaurant in Hartley, Texas, from Skyland Grain LLC.

The sale of its only c-store will allow Skyland Grain—a farmers’ co-op—to focus on its core business of serving the agricultural needs of its customers. The sale also puts the Hitchin’ Post in the hands of a company that is focused on serving the convenience-store needs of the community.

Shamrock, Texas-based Garrison’s Convenience Stores and its parent company H.J. Garrison Oil Co. Inc. operate in small towns in the eastern Texas Panhandle. They are “looking forward to serving a small town in the western Texas Panhandle,” it said.

The Hitchin’ Post will close on March 4 and reopen as Garrison’s on March 5. As of March 4, the Skyland Grain fuel cards will no longer work at this location. They will continue to work at all remaining Skyland Grain fuel facilities.

Skyland Grain will continue to operate grain and agronomy operations in the area, along with providing bulk, transport fuel and lubricants delivery. It operates grain storage and handling facilities at 50 locations in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas. It also operates three cotton gins, a full-service agronomy sales and service division and a retail and wholesale fuel sales and delivery division.

H.J. Garrison Oil is a distributor of gasoline and diesel fuel to convenience stores, gas stations, oil-field related businesses, farms and ranches.
