Gaza on the brink of famine, humanitarian aids must flow – Syrian Arab News Agency

New York, SANA- UN Secretary-General António Guterres confirmed Tuesday that Gaza Strip is on the brink of famine due to a severe shortage of food supplies, calling for a large flow of humanitarian and relief aid to the Strip’s residents.

“Food, water, medicine, and fuel supplies must flow into Gaza unhindered” the top UN official was quoted by Reuters as saying in a statement. “Gaza is on the brink of famine,” he added.

Guterres added “Palestinians in Gaza are enduring a humanitarian catastrophe of epic proportions. This is not a warning. It is a reality unfolding before our eyes.”

The UN Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warned today that the worst-case scenario of famine is currently unfolding in the besieged and devastated Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a war of extermination by the Israeli occupation since October 7, 2023.
