Jay Kelly: Netflix’s highly anticipated film generating Oscars buzz
George’s film, Jay Kelly, will premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival on August 28. Directed by Noah Baumbach, the film has a star-studded cast including George, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gerwig, and more.
George stars as a world-famous actor who sets off on a trip across Europe with his manager, Ron (Adam Sandler). Along the way, the two dig into their pasts: careers, relationships, and the choices that shaped them.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, George opened up about his journey starring in the film at his age. He said finding roles like this wasn’t that common. “If you can’t make peace with aging, then you’ve got to get out of the business and just disappear,” he explained. “I’m now the guy that, when I go running after a bad guy, it’s funny—it’s not suspenseful. That’s okay. I embrace all of that.”
He also opened up about his experience working with Baumbach, who loves having a lot of takes to pull from. “I literally said to him, ‘Noah, look, I love the script. I love you as a director, but I’m 63 years old, dude—I can’t do 50 takes,” Clooney explained. “‘I don’t have it in me. I’ve got the acting range from A to B.”
The drama-comedy is one of Netflix’s most anticipated movies and has a lot of Oscar buzz around it. Some are hoping it finally earns Sandler his first nomination after he was “snubbed” in 2019 with Uncut Gems.
George Clooney´s exciting summer
Good Night, and Good Luck ran from March 12 to June 8, so he’s back to his usual schedule after performing on stage for 13 weeks. Back in May, Amal did the Cannes festival alone while he performed, representing both of them at their good friend Bono´s premiere of Bono: Stories of Surrender.

Now that it’s over, they’re back to their usual power couple ways. On Jun 26, they attended The King’s Trust Awards in London, looking snappy. The Ocean’s Eleven star wore a navy suit and white shirt, with Amal also wearing a white column halter dress.
