Georgia–China Trade Ties Strengthen as Guangdong Delegation Visits Tbilisi for Business Forum – Economy

On June 9, a delegation from China’s Guangdong Province visited Georgia. As part of the visit, the Georgia–China Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held, organized by the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries. The event brought together 15 Chinese and around 40 Georgian companies, as well as high-level officials.

The conference was opened by Giorgi Pertaia, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; the Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade; the Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); and Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Zhou Qian.

“A stable and predictable environment is essential for business. In today’s world of economic uncertainty, the friendly relations between Georgia and China are more important than ever. The free trade agreement, visa-free regime, and close partnership have given a significant boost to Georgian–Chinese business relations, which is reflected in the steady growth of trade turnover, tourism, and other areas,” said Giorgi Pertaia.

A renewed Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Chambers of Commerce of Georgia and Guangdong Province. The two sides shared insights on the bilateral business environment and potential cooperation areas.

The event also included B2B meetings between Chinese and Georgian companies operating in sectors such as sustainable energy and engineering, strategic investment, business consulting, industrial development, and manufacturing.
