Georgia football leads SEC in average ticket price | Georgia Sports

After capturing its second SEC championship in three years, Georgia football has topped the conference in another category — ticket prices.

According to Sportscasting.com, the average home ticket at a Georgia game costs $277.38, edging out SEC runner-up Texas at $273.86.

This is the second straight year that the Bulldogs have topped the list, and their average ticket price rose 76.7% from last season, which is the sixth-highest year-over-year increase in the SEC.

This price hike goes hand-in-hand with the increase in the donation amount required to retain a season ticket that athletic director Josh Brooks announced last September.

All five of Georgia’s home SEC contests have average get-in prices of more than $200, and the Bulldogs’ Sept. 27 matchup against Alabama has an average ticket price of $726, the highest of any SEC game this season and $111 more expensive than last year’s priciest ticket

Georgia is part of two other games in the top five of that list: the Nov. 15 SEC championship rematch against Texas, priced at $551, ranks fourth and the $379 average ticket price of Georgia’s Sept. 13 game at Tennessee ranks fifth.

For the second year in a row, Mississippi State trails the field. Its $45.86 average get-in cost is a 154% increase from last season, but is still more than $30 cheaper than the next highest and $86.72 under the SEC average.

Following a 9-3 regular season that included wins over Texas A&M and Clemson, South Carolina saw the largest year-over-year increase, with the cost of tickets up 191.04% from last season.
