Georgian Researcher cisit China to strengthen science cooperation

The Georgian Researchers from the Agricultural Scientific and Research Center’s Research Service were in China on a working visit. The main aim of the visit was to strengthen scientific collaboration in the field of agroforestry and forest ecosystem sustainability.

The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) of Georgia shared glimpses of their visit on its official Facebook page on Monday, July 28, 2025. SRCA also shared a small note along with its glimpses.

Nani Goginashvili, the head of the Research Service of Agro-Forestry Crops of the Agriculture Scientific and Research Center, and specialist Maya Bachilava, on a working visit to the Northeast Forestry University of China (K. Harbin), were there. This international educational program aims to involve foreign experts in the higher education process.

During the visit, Georgian scientists got acquainted with forest management practices of Heloijiani province, visited modern laboratories, and participated in discussions related to the sustainability of East Asian forest ecosystems, development of fast-growing forest species, remote zoning and fire prevention strategies, as well as the role of forests in carbon balance.

Scientists shared information about forest research and environmental projects in Georgia with Chinese professors. Meetings were held with Professor Xiguang Yang, Head of the Department of Environmental Protection at the University, and Professor Zhan Shu. Planned strategic collaboration, including student exchange and joint research.

Georgian specialists conducted lectures for local undergraduate and graduate students on topics such as the sustainable use of non-terminally forested resources, conservation of rare species, the potential of hybrid clones of Verkhvi, and the uniqueness of Georgian biodiversity.

At the end of the visit, Georgian and Chinese scientists jointly visited Changbei and Maoershin Protected Areas, as well as Liangshu Forest Park, with examples of unique forest ecosystems.

Concrete plans for deepening cooperation between the parties have been set.
