Germany Unveils 2025 Tourism Plans: Romance, Culture & Sustainability Take the Spotlight
Germany is quickly becoming a top destination for Indian travellers, thanks to its rich culture, improved flight connectivity, and exciting new tourism initiatives. In 2025, the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) launched three key campaigns – Romantic Germany, Cultureland Germany, and Embrace German Nature – specially designed for Indian tourists seeking unique and memorable experiences.
At a recent press conference held with the German Embassy in India, the GNTB highlighted exclusive travel packages tailored for Indian honeymooners, culture lovers, and eco-conscious travellers. These efforts have already shown results, with an 8.6% rise in overnight stays by Indian visitors in 2024, and the average length of stay increasing as well.
Romantic Germany offers dreamy experiences for couples, including private river cruises in the Moselle Valley, spa retreats in Bavarian chalets, and springtime strolls through castle gardens. With Indian honeymoon travel on the rise, this initiative aims to attract couples looking for fairytale experiences.
Cultureland Germany showcases the country’s 52 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, historical towns like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and cultural hubs like Berlin and Chemnitz, the European Capital of Culture for 2025. This initiative invites Indian tourists to explore Germany’s deep history and world-class art.
Embrace German Nature focuses on sustainable travel. Germany offers national parks, eco-hotels, cycling trails, and natural wonders like the Black Forest and the Wadden Sea. The goal is to provide Indian travellers with environmentally friendly travel options that are both relaxing and responsible.
Germany is also making travel easier for Indians by increasing flight connections (a 28% rise since 2019) and improving visa processes. Vegetarian and vegan food options are also expanding, catering to Indian tastes. The country is even gaining popularity as a destination for Indian weddings, thanks to its scenic beauty and unique venues.
With Indian travel spending growing four times faster than the global average, Germany is investing 2 million Euros in 2025 to promote these new offerings. The GNTB is confident that its romantic, cultural, and eco-conscious initiatives will make Germany a favourite among Indian travellers for years to come.
Romit Theophilus, Director of Marketing & Sales Office – India, the German National Tourist Board said, “Germany ignites Indian wanderlust by offering romantic escapes and cultural deep dives that cater to the modern traveller. Whether it’s a couple looking for a peaceful retreat amidst nature or an adventurous exploration of our historic routes, Germany has something exceptional to offer. We believe our focus on sustainability and cultural richness will resonate deeply with Indian travellers, especially those seeking romantic breakaways.”
