Century/JM 12, Red Wing 0
ROCHESTER — Megan Gamble recorded a natural hat trick in the first nine minutes of a Big Nine Conference girls hockey game Thursday night to spark Century/John Marshall on its way to a 12-0 victory against Red Wing.
Gamble finished with four points, including scoring the game’s first three goals, in a span of 5 minutes, 42 seconds.
The Panthers rolled from there, scoring five first-period goals, one in the second and six in the third.
Ten Century/JM players recorded at least one point and seven of them had multiple points. Kennedy Stewart led the way with a five-point night (two goals, three assists), while Katie Nelson had a goal and two assists.
Isabella Scranton recorded a 12-save shutout as the Panthers improve to 7-6-0 in the Big Nine and 11-9-1 overall.
Red Wing drops to 0-13-0 in the conference and 0-19-0 overall. The Wingers play at Northfield at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Century/JM hosts Visitation at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

MANKATO — Rochester Mayo went toe-to-toe with Big Nine Conference title contender Mankato East for two-and-a-half periods here Thursday night, but the Cougars got the bounces and the goals down the stretch, beating the Spartans 5-2.
East (5-2-1 Big Nine, 12-6-2 overall) scored three times in the final 7 minutes, 26 seconds to pull away for the victory.
Grace Kober made 33 saves to keep the Spartans (5-7-0, 8-10-0) in the game.
Katie Cummings scored 36 seconds into the second period for Mayo to tie the score 1-1. East went back ahead on a Kira Prange goal 35 seconds later, but the Spartans tied the score again when Marley Smith scored 9:09 into the second.
That’s how the score remained until East’s Ella Fugazzi scored at the 9:34 mark of the third, a goal that held up as the game winner.
Mayo is back in action at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, hosting Albert Lea at Graham Arena.
