Girls hockey results for Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 – Post Bulletin
ROCHESTER — Rochester Mayo went toe-to-toe with one of the Big Nine Conference’s best teams Tuesday night, but Northfield pulled away in the third period for a 5-2 girls hockey victory at Graham Arena.
Mayo led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Katie Cummings, a goal that came with just 2 seconds remaining in the first.
Northfield answered in the second period, with Emma Peroutka and Reese Peroutka scoring less than three minutes apart midway through the period, for a 2-1 lead.
That lead didn’t last long, as freshman Maddy Desjardins scored her fifth goal of the season less than two minutes after Reese Peroutka’s goal, to tie the score 2-2.
The Northfield defense clamped down on Mayo’s offense the rest of the way, though, and Emma Peroutka scored the game-winning goal on a power play with 56 seconds to go in the second period.
Lindsey Erickson and Reese Peroutka added goals in the third period for the 5-2 final.
Northfield is now 7-1-2 in the conference and 10-7-2 overall.
Mayo (5-6-0, 8-9-0) plays at Mankato East at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
