The meeting was a follow-up to earlier discussions held on April 9 and focused on Circular No. 09/25 – Customs, dated April 28, the GJEPC reported on its website. The aim was to formalise a clear public notice for the trade and streamline operations at the Precious Cargo Warehouse in Celebi, Delhi.
Among the customs officials present were Dheeraj Rastogi, principal commissioner (exports); Ashima Bansal, commissioner (ACC export); Vishal Pal Singh, commissioner (airport); Dibyalok Singh, deputy commissioner (ACC shed); and Anuj Kumar Pandey, additional commissioner (airport). Representing the GJEPC were Antarpal Singh Sawhney, regional chairman– north, and Anil Sankhwal, convener of the studded jewellery panel.
The council proposed several practical measures to ease procedural delays and enhance efficiency for jewellery exporters using hand-carry routes. One of the key suggestions was the establishment of a dedicated detention room for appraised parcels at the Central Warehousing Corporation cargo shed.
According to the GJEPC, customs officials responded positively to the recommendations and advised the council to initiate discussions with CWC authorities for the requested space allocation. The GJEPC works to advocate for the jewellery industry with official bodies to boost trade in the sector.
