Globo lands rights to 2026 Winter Olympics in Brazil

Globo, the heavyweight Brazilian broadcaster, has secured rights to the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, to be held in the Milan-Cortina region of Northern Italy.

Through the agreement, the main competitions will be broadcast by Globo’s Sportv pay-TV channel, with additional coverage on Globo’s linear channels and digital platforms.

Globo also held rights for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The major Brazilian network already has broadcast rights for the next edition of the Summer Olympic Games, in Los Angeles in 2028.

The Milano Cortina Winter Olympics will run from February 6 to 22, 2026, while the Paralympics will be held from March 6 to March 15.

In terms of other recent broadcast deals for the Winter Olympics, Australian media heavyweight Nine Entertainment secured exclusive rights in the country for next year’s games.

The 2026 edition will feature approximately 650 athletes competing in 79 events across six sports. Brazil have already secured seven spots for the event.

The deal for the Milan-Cortina games is the second major rights acquisition for Globo this week after announcing an exclusive deal for the Formula 1 motor racing series from the 2026 season.
