Goa’s Tourism Minister Pushes for Enhanced Airline Connectivity and Competitive Pricing, ET HospitalityWorld

According to an official statement by Goa Tourism, the state tourism minister, Rohan A Khaunte in his meetings with minister for civil aviation early this week in Delh raised the critical need for expanding international direct connectivity to Goa and improving the viability of domestic routes.

Khaunte underscored the importance of viable route economics for domestic sectors and advocated for increased international direct connectivity to Goa from key source markets. He also flagged the need to re-examine airline pricing structures, particularly on domestic routes, to ensure competitiveness and sustained tourist inflow to ensure that Goa remains competitive as a year-round destination.

In his discussions with the union culture and tourism minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, explored leveraging Goa’s heritage, festivals and spiritual assets to position the state as a hub for authentic and high-value tourism. Both ministers also discussed the evolving role of the concert economy in promoting immersive and experience-driven tourism. Also, the ministers discussed the importance of developing iconic and sustainable tourism infrastructure that reflects Goa’s identity.

“Goa is not just a destination; it’s a cultural emotion. By building a concert economy and strengthening aviation linkages, we aim to make Goa globally accessible while preserving its soul,” said Khaunte. “Our discussions reflected a shared commitment between the Centre and the State to work together on building a tourism framework that is experiential, sustainable, and globally connected.”

Meanwhile, Goa tourism department has launched a dedicated monsoon campaign, #GlowOnArrival, positioning Goa as India’s ultimate feel-good monsoon destination. The campaign highlights the unique charm of Goa during the rainy season

Speaking about the campaign, Kedar Naik, director of tourism, Government of Goa, said, “#GlowOnArrival is an invitation to rediscover Goa during its most magical season. Monsoon in Goa is not just about scenic beauty but it’s about reconnecting with nature, embracing wellness, and experiencing the rich cultural warmth of our land. We welcome travellers to slow down, breathe, and leave with a glow that only Goa can offer.”
