Government and UN Officials Strengthen Ties to Advance Governance and Disaster Preparedness – Love FM Belize News & Music Power
The Minister of the Public Service, Governance, and Disaster Risk Management, Henry Charles Usher, met yesterday with senior officials from the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office to strengthen ties and explore new opportunities for partnership. The meeting brought together Minister Usher, UN Resident Coordinator Raul Salazar, Deputy Resident Coordinator Michael Lund, and National Emergency Coordinator Daniel Mendez. Discussions centered on deepening cooperation between the Government of Belize and the UN, with a focus on advancing good governance, boosting disaster risk management capabilities, and aligning national initiatives with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mendez emphasized the need for integrating emergency management strategies into future joint initiatives. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain close coordination and move forward on projects designed to bring tangible benefits to the Belizean people.
