Greece Showcases Tourism Potential at SATTE 2025 to Attract More Tourists from India

Seeking to expand Greece’s tourism reach in India, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) participated in SATTE 2025 in New Delhi, showcasing Greece as a top destination for travelers.
Held from February 19-21, SATTE 2025 marked its 32nd edition and hosted over 2,000 exhibitors, including hotels, airlines, tourism agencies, and 28 national tourism organizations from countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Turkey, and Indonesia. The exhibition attracted more than 40,000 visitors, highlighting its importance within the tourism industry.
Greece, the only European country at SATTE 2025
Accoring to the GNTO, as the only European country at the event, Greece’s presence was prominent.
The GNTO’s stand featured key partners, including the Region of Central Macedonia, Mitsis Hotels, Costa Navarino resorts, AEGEAN Airlines, and travel agencies MAZI Travel Services and ASIT-ANATOLIA Travel.
The Greek tourism offerings were showcased at the Yashobhoomi International Convention and Travel Expo Centre, a prime venue for such events in New Delhi.
Strong interest in Greek tourism

SATTE 2025 generated considerable interest among tourism professionals from 50 countries. At the Greek stand, Pavlos Mourmas, Director of the GNTO’s branch in China, conducted over 70 meetings with industry professionals. The stand also received more than 1,300 formal inquiries regarding travel to Greece.
There was particularly strong interest in partnerships with Greek destination management companies (DMCs), as well as press and familiarization (fam) trips. Additionally, inquiries about family vacations, luxury tourism, and wedding tourism were notable. Visitors also expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities within Greece’s real estate and tourism sectors.
Exploring a GNTO branch in India
During SATTE 2025, the Greek stand was visited by Greek Ambassador to India, Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, and the Head of the Offices for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Gerasimos Lazaris. Discussions focused on the possibility of establishing a GNTO office within the Greek embassy in India to further strengthen tourism relations between the two countries.
Data from the Indian Ministry of Culture sheds light on the travel preferences of Indian tourists.
A significant portion of Indian travelers, 72.66 percent, prefer destinations with direct flights from India and simplified visa processes, often choosing the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, or Singapore. In contrast, only 27.34 percent of outbound travelers visit European destinations.
Further statistics indicate that 41.27 percent of Indian travelers travel for leisure and vacations, while 35.6 percent visit friends and family abroad. Business trips account for 13.2 percent, study-related travel for 8.2 percent, and 1.2 percent travel for other reasons.
