Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni will spotlight Greece’s tourism resilience and sustainability strategies during the 123rd session of the UN Tourism Executive Council, taking place May 29–30 in Segovia, Spain.

Representing Greece as one of the 35 members of the Council’s Executive Board, Kefalogianni will join global tourism leaders to discuss key issues shaping the sector. This year’s session also marks the 50th anniversary of the  United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

Key agenda items include the nomination of a new Secretary-General for the 2026–2029 term, financial and governance matters, and proposals by Brazil related to climate action and merit-based leadership.

During the event, Minister Kefalogianni will outline Greece’s national strategy to enhance tourism resilience, particularly in the face of environmental and economic challenges.

Her presentation will also include proposals for global collaboration on climate adaptation, destination strengthening, and sustainable development.

The minister is also expected to hold meetings with council members to support Greece’s nomination of Harry Theoharis for the role of UN Tourism Secretary-General.

These diplomatic efforts are part of Greece’s broader bid for re-election to the UN Tourism Executive Board, with the vote scheduled for June 5 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Kefalogianni will lead the Greek delegation at the 123rd UN Tourism Executive Council, joined by Greece’s Ambassador to Spain, Aglaia Balta; the Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development, Vasiliki Koutsoukou; and the minister’s Diplomatic Attaché, Ambassador Georgios Dimitriadis.
